We are thrilled to announce the launch of our highly anticipated podcast, “Creating Communities of Care”! This groundbreaking podcast aims to address the barriers and gaps in care experienced by African Nova Scotian and Urban Indigenous women in Kjipuktuk (Halifax, Nova Scotia). Through powerful conversations, inspiring stories, and thought-provoking discussions, we delve into the pressing issue of gender-based violence and explore culturally-specific programming designed to empower and uplift these communities.
In an effort to tackle the challenges faced by African Nova Scotian and Urban Indigenous women, four organizations have united their efforts to provide culturally-specific programming that addresses gender-based violence in a transformative way. Inspired by Indigenous customary law and Afrocentricity, these programs aim to bridge the gaps in our inherited colonial systems, fostering connections among women within their communities and integrating their culture into the care they receive.
