Krista Fox has walked across Canada to bring awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. She began her journey in BC February 2022 and stopped in Ottawa to say their names. It was her plan to finish this month in St. John’s NL. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances plans has changed for Krista. Krista’s journey ended on the east coast in Kjipktuk. Krista is a powerful advocate for MMIWG and the families who shares her own story connected to MMIWG. She honors the spirits of MMIW and MMIM by speaking their names and truths so they are never forgotten. Krista made her stop in Kjipktuk on September 13th and visited the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre on Wednesday where she received a warm welcome by and had a tour of the centre.
On September 15th , the Circle of Sisters welcomed Krista to Mi’kma’ki by hosting a potluck with ceremony and drumming to show our gratitude for the work she is doing to honour our MMIW & MMIM. Krista shared her truth and the names of MMIW & MMIM so they will never be forgotten.
